Abstract: The 2nd Workshop on “Next Generation Intelligent Emergency Communications” focuses on innovative networking solutions by addressing the urgent need for designing intelligent, reliable, and resilient emergency communication systems. By integrating theoretical insights and practical applications, it offers a platform for researchers to present their works on cutting-edge network design, innovative networking methodologies, and fundamental performance analyses for intelligent emergency communications. Topics of interest include (but not limited to) the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), large generative AI model, neural networks, 5G/6G technologies, and edge computing in enhancing the effectiveness of emergency communication networks, as well as strategies for ensuring ultra-reliable, low-latency communication (URLLC) in disaster recovery operations.

Our 1st Workshop on “Next Generation Intelligent Wireless Emergency Communications” will be held in IEEE GLOBECOM 2024, in December 2024, Cape Town, South Africa, which has attracted over 50 high-quality submissions. By inviting contributions from a diverse range of backgrounds, we successfully encouraged researchers to present their technological advancements. The established interest from the 1st workshop, combined with ongoing developments in emergency communications, position this workshop to draw researchers eager to engage in the exploration of the latest findings in this critical domain.

The event will include keynote speeches, technical presentations, and interactive discussions, fostering collaboration among researchers dedicated to enhancing network resilience in crisis scenarios. We invite participants to engage in discussions that push the boundaries of current research and practice in this vital field. Our approach aims to encourage creative problem-solving and inspire new partnerships among attendees, further enhancing the workshop’s impact.
