Abstract: The incorporation of cutting-edge digital twin (DT) technology and pervasive intelligence holds the potential to revolutionize next-generation vehicular networks. This powerful combination facilitates the creation of highly adaptive, self-managing systems, where DTs—sophisticated digital representations of physical assets enriched with real-time data insights—collaborate with advanced AI and machine learning techniques to deliver intelligent and automated operations. By capitalizing on this synergy, next-gen vehicular networks can attain exceptional levels of performance, offering seamless real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and context-aware service optimization for dynamic transportation scenarios. These innovations promise significant advancements in areas such as connected and autonomous vehicles, intelligent traffic management, and integrated urban mobility systems. However, realizing this vision comes with substantial challenges. Vehicular networks must accommodate an unprecedented density of connected devices and diverse mobility use cases, requiring scalable and resilient DT frameworks to accurately replicate and manage dynamic physical environments. Integrating pervasive intelligence with DTs also raises critical concerns regarding data privacy, secure transmission, and the mitigation of sophisticated cyber-attacks in highly interconnected systems. Additionally, ensuring interoperability across DTs, AI-driven algorithms, and heterogeneous vehicular network components is a complex task, particularly in ecosystems incorporating multi-vendor hardware and software solutions. Addressing these issues demands innovative strategies that balance scalability, robust security, and cross-system compatibility while maintaining low latency and high reliability in vehicular environments. In summary, integrating advanced digital twins and pervasive intelligence into next-generation vehicular networks paves the way for transformative breakthroughs in transportation systems. This integration empowers networks to predict and adapt to shifting conditions in real-time, fostering safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility ecosystems. These advancements are crucial for the success of future autonomous transport frameworks, intelligent mobility solutions, and next-generation smart cities, where adaptive and resilient network infrastructures are indispensable.
The goal of this workshop is to delve into the transformative potential of integrating Digital Twins (DTs) and pervasive intelligence within the design and evolution of next-generation vehicular networks. By emphasizing the seamless fusion of these technologies, the workshop aims to uncover their contributions to achieving groundbreaking advancements in vehicular network performance, including exceptional energy efficiency, ultra-reliable communications, and ultra-low latency. The scope encompasses analyzing the challenges, pioneering solutions, and cutting-edge methodologies essential for the successful deployment and optimization of DTs and pervasive intelligence in future vehicular networks. A significant emphasis is placed on their role in accelerating digital transformation, enhancing the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), and enabling novel use cases across the automotive industry and intelligent transportation systems. This workshop offers a platform for experts and practitioners from academia, industry, and governmental organizations to collaborate, exchange innovative ideas, and present forward-thinking research and applications specific to vehicular networks. Through a blend of technical sessions, interactive discussions, and shared experiences, the workshop seeks to foster interdisciplinary innovation and shape the future trajectory of these transformative technologies within the vehicular domain.
