A Special Event: Industry Development Day
As a special feature of VTC2026-Fall, we are excited to host an Industry Development Day dedicated to supporting students and young professionals as they prepare for the next step in their careers.
Your journey begins before the conference. If you would like to refresh your resume or curriculum vitae (CV), you are invited to submit it in advance for a professional review. Volunteer reviewers, including members of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Board of Governors and human resources professionals from Northeastern University will provide personalized feedback and recommendations to help strengthen your resume before you arrive in Boston. We will also have a table of experts that can review your resume onsite and give helpful hints.
Simply submit your resume or CV with a mission statement, using the link below, and you’ll receive constructive feedback prior to the conference, giving you time to make updates before meeting with employers. Please read the directions before submitting.

Program:
Human in the Loop: Expectations in the Agentic AI Era
Tuesday, September 8, 11:00 – 12:30
Agentic AI is rewriting the job description of the working engineer. Tools that once assisted now propose, decide, and execute, and the engineer’s role is shifting toward specifying, supervising, and knowing when to override. This session brings together industry leaders and academic administrators to address two questions the field has not yet answered together: first, what employers now expect from the engineers they hire, and second, how universities should change what they teach in response. The discussion is aimed at students, early-career engineers, and the faculty who train them. Attendees will leave with a clearer picture of which fundamentals still matter, which skills are newly essential, and where the gap between classroom and workplace is widening.
5G Wireless Network Modeling Workshop
Tuesday, September 8, 14:00 to 15:30
This hands-on workshop teaches the end-to-end 5G network modeling workflow in MATLAB. With minimal coding effort, attendees create a 5G scenario: configuring gNB and UE nodes, defining their positions, adding mobility and traffic models, and specifying the channel model. Participants then simulate the scenario, collect statistics, visualize network behavior, and evaluate performance metrics. The exercises also cover the 3GPP TR 38.901 channel models and show participants how to build a custom channel model to plug into the simulated network. The workshop is delivered by Mike McLernon of MathWorks, who has overseen physical layer modeling and software-defined radio connectivity in Communications Toolbox since 2001. The room will be set up in classroom style with access to power, and attendees should bring a laptop, as the exercises are run live.

Tuesday, September 8, 16:00 to 17:30
Connect with industry leaders and take the next step in your career.
During this interactive session, representatives from multiple industry partners will be available to discuss current and future employment opportunities within their organizations.
