Abstract: The transition towards 6G requires a paradigm shift from predictive optimization to generative AI (GenAI), particularly for controlling complex smart radio environments (SREs). While technologies like Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and Cell-Free Massive MIMO offer the physical capability to program the radio medium, controlling these large-scale systems in dynamic scenarios remains a challenge for traditional AI. Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi-modal foundation models are emerging as game-changers, offering the ability to reason, generalize across tasks, and process heterogeneous data (text, image, RF) for semantic-aware network control. This workshop aims to establish the architectural and algorithmic foundations for LLM-native Smart Radio Environments. It will serve as a premier platform to explore how GenAI can evolve SREs from passive entities into self-governing, intent-driven ecosystems. Key themes include LLM-based channel estimation, generative beamforming, multi-modal sensing for blockage prediction, and intent-based networking. By bringing together experts from AI and wireless communications, this workshop seeks to bridge the gap between foundation models and physical-layer infrastructure, paving the way for autonomous 6G networks.
